Preliminary Assessment

Building new apartments or offices? You need to be EV ready
As of October 2023, the National Construction Code requires residential complexes, office blocks, public amenities, accommodation facilities, and industrial properties to offer 10%–100% of their car parking spaces equipped with EV charging-ready facilities.
The draft NCC 2025 requirements, however, go much further—mandating not only that a portion of spaces be EV-ready, but that a minimum number of chargers are installed on day one, supported by dedicated distribution boards, dynamic load management systems, and clearly defined energy-delivery capacities for different building classes. This significantly increases the upfront planning, infrastructure, and compliance obligations for developers and building owners, making the new standards considerably more onerous than the current code.
